About Me

I have always loved people and enjoyed being creative. I studied theatre, English literature and psychology in Stratford upon Avon. Whilst studying I began offering a range of arts-in-health and arts-in-education initiatives, including creating a theatre group for adults with learning disabilities and theatre workshops for children and young people. I became passionate about the potential for creativity to support our wellbeing and mental health, and how the arts can provide a way to express what might not always be possible with words. Sometimes words are just not enough - but a piece of music, a photograph, or a scribble on a piece of paper says everything we are feeling! After my studies in Stratford upon Avon I went to study Theatre at the prestigious Dartington College of Arts in beautiful South Devon. It was at Dartington, during an arts theories lecture, that I discovered the arts can be used therapeutically, and this became my focus and passion.

I have over twenty years' experience working across the mental health sector providing support for adults, young people and children, and well as senior strategic leadership and management, and the development of innovative mental health and wellbeing services. I am an experienced trainer and consultant, providing teaching and guidance on wellbeing, loss, bereavement, death & dying, and suicide prevention across the country.

After graduating from the Masters in Dramatherapy training at The University of Derby, I began combining my extensive experience as a mental health professional and wellbeing specialist with my clinical expertise. I have previously worked as a therapist in schools, hospices, and psychotherapy services across the West Midlands with children, young people, and adults experiencing times of loss, trouble and change, including: bereavement, loss (in its many forms), terminal illness, anxiety, depression, abuse, neglect, trauma, bullying, and relationship breakdowns.

I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Full Member of The British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth). I am also fully insured. I am a Visiting Lecturer on the MA in Dramatherapy programme at The University of Derby. I am also a Master Trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, and a Schwartz Rounds Facilitator. I am a qualified teacher of post-compulsory education.

I have a private practice in beautiful rural Staffordshire and also offer online therapy and telephone therapy. I regularly undertake consultancy for a range of clients, and deliver training across the country.

Please do get in touch if you would like to work with me. Take good care of you.
